Pune is the west arm of Maharashtra about 560 meters from sea level of the Deccan Plateau. Pune is one of the most important railway junctions in the Indian railway. The city is well connected with other Indian cities and Pune railway station is the halting point of regular trains. The main rail junctions are Pune Junction, Khadki (KK), Shivajinagar (SVJR), Dapodi (DAPD), Ghorpuri (GPR), and Hadapsar (HDP).
